Pengalaman Menerima Biasiswa Yayasan Telekom Malaysia 2017

Assalamualaikum and hye, so here in this post, I want to write about my experience receiving YTM Scholarship. As an introduction, I took SPM in 2016 so yeah it's my first year with YTM. Okay, so untuk biasiswa Telekom Malaysia ni, dia ada banyak stage juga but depends on year as my seniors told me they used to conduct camp and on the last day of the camp tu diorang buat interview, but for my case, we're like the first batch yang takde camp tu. Basically, you fill up the online form and wait till they contact you. The second stage, you will be invited to the interview after being shortlisted. For my batch, They received around 11 thousands applicants and only 400+ were shortlisted for the interviews. They held the interview for 4 days if I'm not mistaken and mine is on the second day. On that day, technically they held two stages which were the students will went through an IQ test first and from there, only half will make it to the next stage which was the interview itself, so in another word for those who couldn't pass the IQ test, they won't proceed with the interview :( Okay, so now I'll tell my own experience applying and receiving this scholarship. Frankly speaking, I am one of those students who went frenzy on filling up form after form for scholarship. Some straightaway after SPM (using my trial result) while most of them were after I received SPM's result. On the other note, alhamdulillahhhhhhhh. I couldn't be grateful enough for my result as it was and still is really unexpected- in a good way fortunately.

Okay, returning back to our purpose. So, after lot of forms being sent and here came the most heart wrenching moment- the waiting phase. As I remember, the first scholarship to be announced is JPA and sadly I couldn't make it to the next stage and right after that Petronas and again I'm being drenched by misery as I once again failed. But, life is not always cloudy as one day I received an email from JCorp stating that I could make it to the interview but then I'm trapped in a dilemma as it clashed with my graduation day. After lot of thinking, I decided to let it go. Yea, it seems absurd for me to take that decision but thing'd been done nonetheless. Just like that, I'm still waiting for the other scholarships to announce its results and one fine day I finally get an offer from YTM asking me to attend the second stage AND I SWEAR I'VE NEVER BEEN HAPPIERRRRR.

Talking about the interview, it's held at Menara TM in Kuala Lumpur and they also held it in Sabah and Sarawak. For that day, we're asked to wear smart casual which normally being described as half formal-half casual. After dining the breakfast provided, we're devided into two teams and straightaway went for the IQ test. After that, the seniors will take us to tour the tower ((it's interesting trust meeeee)) and we got to play some games in order to kill times while waiting for the IQ results. Technically only half of the students who could make it to the next stage and alhamdulillah I'm chosen. Trust me, to sit and wait for your name to be called is one of the most nerve wrecking moment I've had.

After the announcement, we went to take the digital test (((the questions are so hard like it needs you to have high general knowledge in IT, but don't worry it's nothing))) After that, we went for lunch and prayer and yea came the interview part. Ahh we're divided into teams consist of 5 members. The first part is group interview. Literally, they'll give us some random article and we'll be given some minutes to go through the article and start discussing among the group members. Throughout the discussion, there were 3 judgers watching our every moves ((huehuehue)). But, in my personal point of view, this group interview is fine as long as you don't freak out and stop being too nervous!!! Calm yourself down and take it as if you're talking with your fellow classmates regarding general topic and you'll do well! After the group session, the individual interview started. I'm the second candidate and yeah so nervous walaooo. If you're a Muslim, I suggest you to read Surah Yaseen before your turn or before the interview session or the night before. I did that. While waiting for my turn, I read Yaseen. It's to calm your nervous state and yeah many more benefits that comes along. So, for the interview they start with the "tell us about yourself" and yeah the progress went by from that. Let me drop some tips here since we're on this topic

 1) While talking, don't show that you're nervous as that'll make you look pathetic in a way heee. Always make eye contact with the interviewers and of course smile.
2) Get ready the night before.
3) Be honest to yourself. Tell them the real story but of course with some spices here and there but don't go overboard.

So, those are some tips? hahaha. Weeks after that, I finally received an email from YTM telling me that I got the scholarship and again I'VE NEVER BEEN ANY HAPPIER :)
